The Sun had reached its nadir
And twilight besieged the horizons of the city.
Howling through the dark graveyard, blew the zephyr
Recalling what happens here nightly, with resentment and pity.
As the moon began to roll out of the cloud
On a grave, but one, the moonlight shed its light
Suddenly, came a sharp noise – thud thud
And the dead resurrected in the darkest of the night!
Slowly came out, with vengeance, the head-less dead
And from nowhere came a black horse in sight.
Fitting a pumpkin in the place of his head
Sat the dead over the horse, as if for a fight!
‘Beware Beware’ hooted the owl
The Headless Horseman was on the prowl. .
