This kitten was different from the others. This little fella has seen what we can and will do, often without any provocation.

Her siblings were wary of my presence, but she was as away from me as you would be from a predator. It took me half an hour of sitting there for her to trust me enough to sit a few feet away from me.
Her face was witness to abuse, and her soul was scarred. Her instincts proved her wrong when she went near one of us. They might name us giants, ogres, and even monsters. Humans is the name we gave ourselves – what has it got to do with them. For them, we’re walking skyscrapers who don’t hesitate to hit and beat.
I read it somewhere. The sure way to ascertain about a society’s advancement is to see the stray cats that wander in that society. Seldom have i seen a friendly stray cat, that speaks volumes about the kind of society we live in.
She wouldn’t let me come close to her. No. She may not know, but she was in a place of worship. I’m not sure if she got hit inside or outside. On second thoughts, it doesn’t make a difference where she got hit and how and why and when.
What matters is the absolute truth that she was hurt and she’s left to find out why she was hurt. Maybe she trusted someone, maybe she went against or with her instincts, maybe she was hungry and decided to take a leap of faith, or maybe she doesn’t yet know.
We’re often taught – treat others how you expect to be treated. I think we define ‘others’ as the people from whom we can benefit.

I guess I’ll stop typing, it’s not like words can change views. Sure, they’ll make civilizations better. But then again; as long as we don’t identity ourselves as one part of the nature, we’ll never really learn. There will continue to be victims – some with names, like Harambe, Katya, Mary, Cecil – while others nameless and hence devoid of human attention.
