What made me read the book – the book title translates to ‘Embezzlement’. It was on offer, and it was a hindi novel; I’ve never read a hindi novel before. So i picked it up

What I liked about the book – written by Premchand (who was a mix of Shakespeare and Wordsworth – he was a prolific writer, playwright, and novelist who never saw the fame that his works and name gets now), the plot was almost close to following the logical conclusion of its character. The story was vivid, and the idiosyncrasies were captured with elegance
Who will I recommend the book to – someone who knows Hindi, this book will want you to read it to know what happens to your character
What did the book teach me – literature isn’t bound by language, humans are. I’m not as comfortable with Hindi and Tamil as I’m in English, maybe it’s my own undoing. Due to this, I’ve missed out on reading and experiencing so many many more pieces.
